The Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (Oto-HNS) residency program offers outstanding research opportunities. Residents engage in research throughout their training, with dedicated time set aside during the second and third years.
Our National Institutes of Health (NIH) research funding places our program among the top five in the country. In addition to funding from NIH, our efforts are funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), the Veterans Health Administration, the U.S. Department of Defense, and others. We are one of the few institutions in the country with a Head and Neck SPORE (Specialized Program of Research Excellence) funded by the National Cancer Institute.
Our team has clinical and translational expertise in head and neck cancer, thyroid cancer, laryngology, speech-language pathology, otology and neurotology, audiology, rhinology and skull base, pediatric otolaryngology, and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. We collaborate with experts across the School of Medicine and Public Health, UW-Madison campus and around the globe.
