Audiology Externships

Four full-time audiology externship positions are available each year. Externs rotate between our four audiology locations (University Hospital, UW 1 South Park Medical Center, UW Eastpark Medical Center, and American Family Children’s Hospital). You will gain experience working with both adults and children in a variety of areas, including a full range of diagnostic services and treatment of hearing and balance, such as hearing evaluations, electrophysiological assessments (ABR, ASSR, ENoG), vestibular assessments (VNG, Vhit, ECoG, Vemp, rotary chair), hearing aids (including verification measures), osseointegrated devices, and cochlear implants. Our team collaborates daily with our neurotologists, otolaryngology providers, and other multidisciplinary teams across UW Health. This collaboration enables us to develop evidence-based, comprehensive treatment plans for our patients. Externship positions may also include a research component, providing experience collaborating with audiologists on clinically applicable research.

These positions typically take place between June and May of the final year of the audiology graduate program. Applicants should be enrolled in an AuD program and be highly motivated, independent self-starters with a strong interest in providing high-quality care. Previous clinical practicum experience in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
