Research Interests
Dr. Thibeault is a clinician scientist whose research program focuses on understanding the biology of the vocal fold mucosa, specifically for inflammation, fibrosis and scarring. She has two main areas of focus: tissue regeneration and immunology of the vocal fold mucosa, which involves using developmental biology as a research platform to interrogate our knowledge, and characterization of the larynx microbiome in health and disease, for application to vocal fold inflammation. Her work in the latter area involves using single-cell transcriptomics to determine the role of this unique microbiome in the development of immune cells in the tissue. Dr. Thibeault is a member of the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) Advisory Council.
