Position title: Postdoctoral Trainee
Address:
Voice Research Training Program
Faculty Mentor: Susan Thibeault, PhD

Robert Fujiki completed a PhD at Purdue University under the mentorship of Dr. Preeti Sivasankar. Fujiki’s doctoral work focused on quantifying and mitigating the effects of vocal exertion with the long-term goal of improving vocal endurance and preventing laryngeal pathology. Before studying at Purdue, Fujiki received an MS in communication disorders under the mentorship of Dr. Kristine Tanner and a BFA in musical theater from Brigham Young University. Fujiki also completed a clinical fellowship in speech-language pathology in the UW–Madison Voice and Swallow Clinic.
Impressed by how the scientists and clinicians collaborate to further understanding of voice and swallowing disorders, vocal fold physiology, and development, Fujiki chose to pursue postdoctoral studies at UW–Madison. During their postdoc, Fujiki is working to expand understanding of pediatric voice disorders and develop clinical research expertise. Fujiki is thrilled to work under the mentorship of Dr. Susan Thibeault and is grateful to work with the amazing scientists and clinicians who make up the UW–Madison team.
