Dr. Welham specializes in the assessment and treatment of patients with organic, neurological, and functional voice disorders, resonance disorders, and upper airway disorders such as paradoxical vocal fold motion. He also treats patients with occupational voice problems.

Research Interests

Welham is a practicing speech-language pathologist with a clinical specialization in voice disorders and a multiple R01 NIDCD-funded investigator with a research program in vocal fold biology. Welham’s work is focused on mucosal injury, repair and fibrosis, vitamin A transport and function, emerging biologic therapies, and the application of mass spectrometry-based proteomic technologies. His research involves cross-disciplinary work in chemistry, cell biology, immunology and the nutritional sciences. 

Welham was awarded a five-year, $2.7 million research grant from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders.
