Education

  • PhD, Neurophysiology, University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI

Research Interests

Dr. Connor’s research interests include voice and swallowing disorders, head and neck cancer, aging, and neuromuscular function in the head and neck. Her primary focus is the effect of aging on the upper airway, including the larynx and tongue. She studies muscle physiology and structure, as well as nerve-muscle connections, examining mechanisms of muscular plasticity within the larynx and tongue and how these processes can be reversed or prevented via exercise and other treatments.

Connor and Dr. Michelle Ciucci were recently awarded a five-year, $3.8 million federal research grant to study swallowing problems that can occur in people with Alzheimer’s disease.
