Audiology Externships

Four full-time Audiology Externship positions are available each year. The externs rotate between our four audiology locations (University Hospital, 1 S. Park St. Medical Center, Eastpark Medical Center, and American Family Children’s Hospital).

The externship opportunity offers experience working with both adults and children in a variety of areas of audiology including a full range of diagnostic services and treatment of hearing and balance, including: hearing evaluations, electrophysiological assessments (ABR, ASSR, ENoG), vestibular assessments (VNG, Vhit, ECoG, Vemp, rotary chair), hearing aids (including verification measures), Osseo integrated devices, and cochlear implants.

Our team collaborates daily with neurotologists, otolaryngology providers, and other multidisciplinary teams across UW Health, allowing for evidence-based, comprehensive treatment plans for patients.

Externship positions include a research component, providing the extern with experience collaborating with audiologists on clinically applicable research.

Externships generally occur between June and May of the final year of the audiology graduate program. Applicants should be enrolled in an AuD program and be highly motivated, independent self-starters interested in providing high-quality care. Previous clinical practicum experience in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
